Pete Dyer and Keith Scott play piano blues
Pete Dyer ran the Blues and Barrelhouse Club evenings at the Round House pub in Soho, London, in the late 1950s. Keith Scott played piano at the Club at the same time. This video is from a reunion at Pete’s home in London in 2014 arranged by Roger Trobridge and Todd Allen as part of their research into the career of Cyril Davies – www.cyril Davies.com.
Pete and Keith talk about piano blues, especially by Jimmy Yancy. Keith played several Yancy compositions, Slow and Steady Blues, Sweet Potootie and Pete joined in to sing Make me a pallet on your floor.
This relaxed, impromptu session around Pete’s piano followed a long discussion about the Club and the UK and American musicians who played there. There are brief appearance by Pete’s dog and his wife, Pam.
